As Breitbart News reports, there appears to be a very significant threat of the once vanquished Tuberculosis (TB) being spread right here in Michigan and this threat is being hidden from the public.

In other states where this infomarion is not being hidden, the infection rates among refugees are as high as 26% (Indiana) with the lowest reported rate at 12% in Florida. Read more.

“In three large counties in the Detroit area-Oakland, Macomb, and Wayne County—MDHHS has hired the Arab American and Chaldean Council to conduct initial domestic medical screenings of arriving refugees, but that organization has apparently not provided latent TB refugee data to the health departments in those counties, as it is required to do by the Refugee Act of 1980.”

“One of the 3,554 refugees resettled in Ingham County, Michigan (Lansing) during the six years beginning October 1, 2010 and ending on September 30, 2016 (FY 2011 to FY 2016) has been diagnosed with multi-drug resistant (MDR) tuberculosis (TB), the Ingham County Health Department tells Breitbart News.”

While one may not sound like much, at least 19 additional refugees have been diagnosed with active TB in the last several years including the most recent in Oakland County.

According to the CDC:

“TB bacteria are spread through the air from one person to another. The TB bacteria are put into the air when a person with TB disease of the lungs or throat coughs, speaks, or sings. People nearby may breathe in these bacteria and become infected.”

You can read more about Tuberculosis on the CDC website.

While many focus on our normal lives, the concerns are getting larger by the day when it comes to taking in refugees from a country we are essentially at war with.
